History
Greve de Lecq Barracks comprises two blocks for soldiers, each consisting of four barrack rooms, and two small rooms for non-commissioned officers. Living space was a premium as soldiers were packed into dormitories. In 1779 it became apparent that the French were making plans to invade Jersey and that is why they needed homes for soldiers . Greve de Lecq is now home to ArtHouse Jersey with no access to the inside.
There is also a tower at Greve de Lecq - one of a series of towers ordered to be built by General Conway to try and defend the island against French attacks in the 1700s.
